Darby's ^^^^
211 5th Ave SE, Olympia
Date of visit: 12/7/08
What we had: SMO omelet with black rye toast, Izzy's Apple Omelet with english muffin, coffee
Hands down, Darby's is the best breakfast place in Oly. Now and then, restaurants pop up that give it a run for it's money, but soon enough their novelty wears off and Darby's welcomes me back as only they can. Friendly, efficient waitstaff. Orange juice that blows your mind. Portion sizes that give you that "whoa" factor even though you've ordered that same dish a few dozen times already.
The eggs in the omelet were cooked just right. It appeared that the sausage wasn't seasoned however. It could've used a bit. The granny apple/aged white cheddar is a delicious combination.

Sorry - best breakfast is Cicada. Darby's is too bland - hence your underspiced sausage!!
I've only had breakfast at Cicada once before. I'll definitely make a visit there soon. Thanks :)
All respect.. but i think Darby's is the greasiest and least appetizing of all the breakfast places. I have yet to eat at Cicada's for breakfast, but I have heard rave reviews. However, I do appreciate New Moon...NONE of the breakfast-y places in town, however are kid friendly and single parent friendly like Otto's was...sniff...
I do like Darby's but I'll second the sentiment that Cicada in Oly's best breakfast. It is a tiny bit more than other places but the difference is minuscule, when you eat there you know where the money went.
I love getting all these comments... keep 'em coming :)
As for kid-friendly, a friend of mine is lamenting the close of Clubside Cafe as well.
Luckily Clubside Cafe is still open, and luckily they are kid-friendly and even better their food is great.
Darby's food is good but hardly the best and I can't believe you had something good to say about their service. Cicada is good too if you have ten to fifteen bucks to blow on breakfast. The Reef is better than either of them and I can't wait for it to reopen. Viva la REEF!!!
I vote for New Moon - the veggie sausage is the best!
I haven't been to many places for breakfast in Olympia-but do want to give a shout out to Blue Lotus. The food is good, the service is good, it's clean and the french press coffee is fantastic.
I'm glad you're back! Please keep reviewing restuarants in Olympia. There are plenty of blogs/reviewers for Seattle-we need you here!
my vote goes to ben moore's.
